Islamabad: A special dinner was hosted last night at Islamabad Club by Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) Punjab President Malik Sameen Khan in honor of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Overseas UK delegation. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, during which detailed discussions took place on organizational matters, issues faced by overseas Pakistanis, the party’s future strategy, and mechanisms for effective coordination.

The delegation was led by senior leader and founder/patron-in-chief of the Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Lovers Forum, Dr. Shoukat Ali Sheikh. The delegation also included Birmingham President Muhammad Shafiq, central members, and other office-bearers. While discussing the problems of overseas Pakistanis, the delegation emphasized that Pakistanis living abroad are the backbone of the country’s economy, and that effective governmental and organizational measures are essential to address their issues.

Dr. Shoukat Ali Sheikh and his colleagues presented several practical proposals aimed at strengthening the party structure, with objectives that included:

  • Improving coordination between workers and leadership
  • Reorganizing party structures at the district level
  • Establishing effective communication with overseas Pakistanis
  • Enhancing the party’s popularity and public trust

Malik Sameen Khan thanked the delegation and stated that all issues related to organizational challenges, workers’ concerns, and future strategy would be conveyed to the central leadership at the earliest. He also expressed his determination to utilize all his energies to make the party more active and stronger.

On this occasion, Dr. Shoukat Ali Sheikh appreciated Malik Sameen Khan’s hospitality and said that overseas Pakistanis have deep ties with the party and wish to see PML-Q play a more effective role both within Pakistan and at the global level. He described Malik Sameen Khan as a prudent and astute politician who is steering the party in the right direction.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both delegations prayed for the speedy recovery of PML-Q Central President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. They also paid tribute to the Pakistan Army for its long struggle against terrorism, its sacrifices for national security, and its role in safeguarding the country’s borders—an effort of vital importance for Pakistan’s national security, global security discourse, and the country’s image within the international community.

Importance of Pakistan and the Overseas Community

Pakistan considers its overseas citizens around the world a fundamental pillar of its diplomatic missions, economic inclusion, remittances, and global linkages. Overseas Pakistanis not only support the national economy through remittances but also play a key role in strengthening international relations, community engagement, and Pakistan’s positive image worldwide. This is why political parties are increasingly prioritizing stronger engagement and policy-making for the overseas community.

Future Course of Action

The proposals presented during the meeting will be placed before the party’s central leadership in the coming days. It is expected that PML-Q may introduce a new engagement network for overseas Pakistanis, organizational restructuring, and policy updates. Political observers view this development as an important milestone for the party’s activities in the months ahead.
