On 5 May 2025, the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, paid a courtesy call on Sajid Manzoor Asadi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs of Pakistan, at his office.
The discussions centred on the establishment of the proposed Joint Economic Commission (JEC), which is envisaged as a vital platform to deepen and institutionalise economic cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan. Both sides deliberated on the prospective agenda items for the Commission, identifying key areas of mutual interest and potential agreements aimed at fostering bilateral trade, investment, and development cooperation.
During the cordial exchange, Syafik and Mr. Sajid reaffirmed the warm and longstanding relations between Malaysia and Pakistan, underscoring the importance of strengthening economic and people-to-people ties. They also explored new avenues for collaboration across emerging sectors, reflecting the shared aspiration of both nations to bolster sustainable economic growth, says press note.
In a gesture of goodwill and mutual interest, Sajid extended an invitation to Syafik to visit Sialkot, a renowned hub of industrial innovation and export excellence in Pakistan. The visit is expected to provide valuable insights into Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities and explore opportunities for industrial partnerships.
In return, Syafik warmly invited Sajid to visit Malaysia, offering him the opportunity to experience Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, dynamic economy, and vibrant multicultural society.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing confidence in the growing trajectory of Malaysia–Pakistan relations and their shared commitment to translating this partnership into tangible economic and developmental outcomes.
