US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has warned that the Biden administration fears Iran could be on the verge of developing nuclear weapons.
Sullivan revealed that Donald Trump’s team has been briefed on the looming threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Speaking in Washington, Sullivan claimed that the downfall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has undermined Iran’s regional power.
Despite Tehran’s insistence that its nuclear program is peaceful, Sullivan pointed to Iran’s accelerated uranium enrichment as cause for concern.
He cautioned that Iran may renege on its commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons.
Sullivan also suggested that Israel’s strikes on Iranian military sites have weakened Iran’s nuclear progress.
According to Sullivan, Iran’s weakened stance could give Trump leverage in future negotiations with Tehran.
