Donald Trump took the oath of office for his second term as the 47th President of the United States. Accompanied by his wife, Melania Trump, he arrived at Capitol Hill for the oath-taking ceremony. President Joe Biden was also present at the event.

 

The oath was administered by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. Following the swearing-in, President Trump was honored with a cannon salute.

 

Before President Trump, newly elected Vice President J.D. Vance also took his oath of office.

 

What is the Presidential Oath?

As stated in Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution, the presidential oath declares: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

 

World Leaders Congratulate Trump

 

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Trump on assuming office. In a statement, he expressed his eagerness to strengthen the enduring U.S.-Pakistan partnership and work together for peace and prosperity in the region.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope that Trump’s second term would bring goodwill to all humanity. In his statement following the oath-taking ceremony, Erdogan highlighted Trump’s promise to help end the Russia-Ukraine war and pledged full support for such efforts.

British Royalty and Leadership Respond
King Charles III of the United Kingdom sent a congratulatory message to President Trump. British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer also extended his congratulations, emphasizing the historic partnership between the U.S. and the UK in promoting global peace and security.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Trump, stating that Canada and the U.S. are strongest when working together.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump for his support during his first term, including exiting the Iran nuclear deal. Netanyahu expressed optimism that Trump’s second term would further weaken Iran’s influence and enhance regional security.
