BEIJING — Chinese President Xi Jinping has declared that global progress is possible even in the absence of American involvement, signaling a more assertive international posture by Beijing.
Speaking during a high-level policy session in Beijing, President Xi emphasized the growing multipolarity of the world order. “The world is not dependent on one country,” Xi stated. “We are entering an era where emerging economies and developing nations will shape the future.”
The remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing efforts by China to strengthen alliances through platforms such as BRICS and the Belt and Road Initiative. Analysts see Xi’s comments as a direct response to what Beijing perceives as Washington’s unilateralism and declining global leadership.
Xi reiterated China’s commitment to multilateral cooperation and peaceful development, while warning against “hegemonic behavior” that undermines global stability.
