The High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in Pakistan celebrated the 41st National Day of Brunei Darussalam with a grand reception in Islamabad. The event was attended by dignitaries, diplomats, and distinguished guests, including Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
In his address, Brunei’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Hj Kamal Bashah Pengiran HJ Ahmad, highlighted the warm and cordial relations between Brunei and Pakistan, founded on shared values and mutual respect. He recalled that last year marked the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, emphasizing their strong cooperation in defense, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
Reflecting on Brunei’s journey as a sovereign and independent nation, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. He noted that this year’s National Day theme, “Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara”—translated as “Unified in Achieving the Country’s Aspirations”—underscores the importance of national unity in fostering sustainable development, particularly in alignment with Brunei Vision 2035.
The High Commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of the Pak-Brunei Investment Company, a successful joint venture between the two countries based in Karachi. He further commended young entrepreneur Waheed, a Pakistani national who has successfully established a business in Brunei and now considers it his second home.
“As we celebrate this special occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening our partnerships on the global stage for a peaceful and prosperous future,” he remarked.
In his concluding remarks, the High Commissioner extended his heartfelt gratitude to Federal Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada for his esteemed presence and to all guests for joining the celebration. “Let us continue to uphold the spirit of unity, resilience, and progress. May Allah Almighty bless both our nations with continued peace and prosperity,” he stated.
