In a significant address to British Members of Parliament at the Margaret Thatcher Committee Room in the Westminster House of Commons, Pakistani Senator Lt Gen (R) Abdul Qayyum emphasized the urgent need to reform the United Nations in order to ensure global justice and find peaceful resolutions to long-standing conflicts like Kashmir.

“To ensure international justice and peacefully resolve enduring issues such as Kashmir, we must restructure the United Nations and eliminate the systemic flaws that allow for the misuse of veto power,” said Senator Qayyum.

The event was organized by Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, along with Councillor Yasmine Dar. The session was chaired by British MP James Frith and attended by over a dozen British parliamentarians, including Rt Hon Sir James—former Home and Foreign Secretary—Naz Shah MP, Afzal Khan MP, and MLA Amir Yaseen. Pakistani Senator Dr Humayun and D Watson Chairman Mr Bakhtavri were also present.

Senator Abdul Qayyum expressed his appreciation to the British MPs for their continued support of the Kashmir cause. However, he emphasized that a real breakthrough can only be achieved when the supportive stance of individual MPs translates into tangible reflection in the British government’s foreign policy.
