Czechia (Czech Republic) and Pakistan see strong potential for enhanced cooperation in the chemical industry. In Czechia, the chemical sector plays a central role in the national economy, ranking as the country’s second-largest industrial sector after the automotive industry in terms of sales.
By 2026, Czech chemical industry sales are projected to reach €12 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 2.3%. The sector covers a wide range of products, including inorganic and organic chemicals, fertilizers, petrochemicals, plastics, rubber, paints, dyes, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, soaps, synthetic fibers, and explosives.
Czechia is emerging as an attractive destination for investment in the chemical industry, particularly in battery manufacturing and its associated supply chains. This is driven by its modern infrastructure, skilled workforce, and available investment-ready land, especially brownfield sites. The chemical sector also supplies vital raw materials to multiple downstream industries and is considered one of the country’s most innovative sectors.
Education plays a key role in this success story. The University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT) in Prague serves as a premier institution for education and research in the field of chemistry. It offers specialized programs in technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, materials and chemical engineering, food chemistry, environmental sciences, and business management. With advanced research facilities and a strong academic reputation, UCT serves as a training ground for future industry leaders and researchers.
Completing this ecosystem is the Association of Chemical Industry of the Czech Republic (SCHP CZ), which represents the majority of the country’s chemical sector. With 142 member organizations, the association plays a significant role in the Czech economy.
SCHP CZ actively engages in influencing legislation, both domestically and at the EU level, to ensure that policies support rather than hinder the growth of the chemical industry. It also works to enhance the sector’s public image and global competitiveness.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pakistan remains committed to supporting investment and cooperation initiatives and welcomes inquiries from interested parties.
