On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Independence Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnian wartime film “Quo Vadis, Aida?” was screened in Islamabad, Pakistan. The event, hosted by Ambassador Emin Cohodarevic, not only showcased the cinematic brilliance of the film but also served as a poignant reminder of the Srebrenica genocide, marking the worst atrocity on European soil since World War II.
Ambassador Cohodarevic emphasized the film’s significance as both a masterpiece and a vehicle for preserving the memory of historical events. He remarked, “Aida’s emotions are the heart of the story,” urging the audience to reflect on the film’s themes and the questions it raises.
In his address, Ambassador Cohodarevic highlighted the unique and special relationship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pakistan. He praised Pakistan’s unwavering support throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina’s journey to uphold freedom and democracy. The ambassador noted that bilateral ties between the two nations transcend various fields, including cultural, defense, political, economic, and social, where positive examples and good practices abound.
As the screening took place on the auspicious occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Independence Day, Ambassador Cohodarevic expressed confidence that the enduring friendship between the people of both countries and the dynamic ties between their governments will continue to flourish.
The event was organized with the collaboration of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, for which Ambassador Cohodarevic extended his gratitude.
