Ambassador Park Kijun Unveils ‘Korean Week 2024’ from October 22-27: Press Conference Marks a Milestone in Korea-Pakistan Relations

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan hosted a press briefing today to announce the upcoming “Korean Week 2024,” scheduled to take place from October 22nd to October 27th in Islamabad. The briefing saw participation from a large number of journalists representing leading print and electronic media outlets.

 

 

The event commenced with welcoming remarks by Raima Tariq, the embassy’s representative, who expressed gratitude to the media community for their ongoing support and outlined the agenda of the briefing.

 

 

Park Kijun, Ambassador of South Korea to Pakistan, formally announced the details of “Korean Week 2024,” highlighting the event’s objective to enhance people-to-people connections and deepen the bilateral relationship between South Korea and Pakistan. Ambassador Park emphasized the significance of transitioning the relationship between the two countries from cordial friendship to a more complementary bilateral partnership.

 

 

 

“Korean Week 2024” will feature a series of cultural events designed to foster mutual understanding and strengthen ties between the two nations. Key events include:

 

1. National Foundation Day and Armed Forces Day Reception
2. Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala
3. Korea-Pakistan Movie Day
4. 17th Korean Ambassador’s Cup National Taekwondo Junior Championship

 

Ambassador Park particularly emphasized the Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala as a public event aimed at deepening the understanding of the strong historical and cultural bonds shared by the two nations. “We are collaborating closely with the External Publicity Wing of Pakistan’s Ministry of Information to ensure the success of this event,” Ambassador Park stated.

 

 

Raisa Adil, Director General of Finance & External Publicity Wing from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and South Korea. She noted the recent celebration of the 40th anniversary of their bilateral relationship and the significant impact of Korean culture in Pakistan, particularly through K-pop, dramas, and films. “Korean Week 2024 will showcase movies, music, and other cultural events that highlight these connections,” she added.

 

 

Second Secretary Jee Eun Seok expressed optimism about the upcoming event, emphasizing its importance in offering Pakistani audiences a valuable opportunity to explore and appreciate Korean culture.

 

The press briefing was attended by senior officials from the Korean Embassy, including Deputy Head of Mission – Park Jae-lark, Counselor – In Yong Lee, and First Secretary Gong Sooyun.

 

Following the event, guests were treated to a variety of traditional Korean cuisines, providing a taste of the rich cultural experiences that awaits during “Korean Week 2024.”
