The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, held a productive meeting with the UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya, to explore opportunities for collaboration between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kistafin briefed Resident Coordinator Yahya on the ongoing efforts of the Kazakh Embassy to foster cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan. He highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing mutual understanding between the two nations.
Resident Coordinator Yahya provided insights into the structure and operations of various UN offices in Pakistan, totaling 26, including UNICEF, OCHA, UNFPA, UN-Habitat, UNOPS, UNODC, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNDP, and others. He emphasized the significant role of these agencies in implementing humanitarian assistance, health, and education projects in Pakistan, expressing the intention to engage member states in UN agency activities.
Both sides exchanged views on the development prospects of Pakistan and underscored the importance of taking proactive steps to support the country’s government, particularly through joint projects aimed at addressing key challenges and promoting sustainable development.
Following constructive discussions, Ambassador Kistafin and Resident Coordinator Yahya reached an agreement to explore the potential for coordinating joint projects involving the Government of Kazakhstan and UN offices in both Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
Both parties expressed optimism for fruitful cooperation in the future and reiterated their commitment to strengthening ties between Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and the United Nations.
