Admiral Wijegunaratne hosts Sri Lankan Junior Squash Team ahead of Asian Tournament in Islamabad

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pakistan Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne hosted a special dinner reception in honor of the 29 members Junior Sri Lankan Squash Team and their coaching staff in Islamabad. The event celebrated the team’s visit and their participation in the ongoing “31st Asian Junior Squash Tournament 2024,” hosted by Pakistan Squash Federation from June 25 to June 30, 2024.

In his address, the High Commissioner warmly welcomed the young players and expressed his hopes for their outstanding performance in the competition. He emphasized the importance of focusing on playing a brilliant game and representing their country with pride.

 

As a gesture of goodwill, the High Commissioner presented special gifts to all the squash players on behalf of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pakistan. The players appreciated the thoughtful gesture and the support provided by the High Commission.

A young female squash player, Ahendri Mendis, speaking on behalf of the team, thanked the High Commissioner for the warm welcome and the exceptional hospitality extended to them. She expressed gratitude for the encouragement and support received from the High Commission.

The evening concluded with a group photo and special presentation by the head coach of the Sri Lankan Junior Squash Team, who awarded a shield to the High Commissioner as a token of appreciation for his efforts in organizing the event.

Nevan Rubasinghe, D Jayasinghe, Harshitha Karunathilaka, KM Akayne Konara, Chanumi Nimthara Thebuwena, Methuki Nulara Herath, Navya Ganegoda, Manuth Sandira Dassanayake, Linuka Silva, Manula Kareendra, RSB Pilapitiya, Ifra Shasmin Booso, Sithumli Ruhansa Mendis, Thedara Liyanage, Methuki Bimansa Samarayayake, Matheesha Thevindu Wijesekara, Tharul Nimsada Pinwatta, Sandanu Gunarathna, D.T.Kemitha Hapuarachchi, Adhithi Gunasekera, Kavithma Senomi Silva, Dinuli Dimandi Alahapperuma, Vishan Ranathunga, Pramuditha Mathishka Thalagala, Minaga Devanmith Padeniya, Aritha Minsandu Alahakoon, Ranliya Irundinithi Wood, Akeesa D Samaranayake, Ashendri Nethanya Mendis.

 

The reception ended with a delicious dinner served by the High Commission of Sri Lanka, enjoyed by the squash team players, their parents, and other attendees.
