Chinese Premier Li Qiang Receives Red Carpet Welcome in Islamabad

Chinese Premier Li Qiang landed in Pakistan at invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a delegation. Qiang, 65, was welcomed at Prime Minister House in federal capital Islamabad as part of four-day visit to Asian nation.

 

The visiting dignitary was greeted with red carpet ceremony and honored with a 21-gun salute at Nur Khan Airbase.

 

 

As part of the welcoming ceremony, the national anthems of both countries were played, and a contingent of armed forces presented a guard of honor to the Chinese Premier.

 

His visit to Asian nation marks first time in eleven years that Chinese Premier traveled to Pakistan. During his stay, Chinese Premier and Pakistani Prime Minister will engage in high level talks to enhance cooperation between Iron Friends.

 

Two sides will also chalk out strategy to advance second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other economic initiatives. The virtual inauguration of Gwadar International Airport is also scheduled to take place during this ceremony.

 

Premier Li will attend the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
