Pakistan Youth League Volunteer Forum organized a seminar in collaboration with the National Language Promotion Department to pay homage to the founder of the organization, well-known broadcaster, novelist, travel writer, columnist, and social activist Suraya Shahab on the occasion of her fifth death anniversary.
The title of which was “Women’s Role in National Development” the speakers from different schools of thought praised the deceased for her academic, literary and social services as an exemplary personality who played an important role in the development of women. Presiding Guest Director General NLPD Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar while expressing his speech said that our countrymen are known for their sentimentality and emotions which is a social & literary norm, women are honored accordingly. Moderation in the society comes to the fore through literature, culture and fine arts. Undoubtedly, personalities like Soraya Shahab are worthy of praise who are remembered till today because of their talents.
Hafiz Tahir Khalil, the chief editor of Jang, while mentioning some of his interesting memories related to Suraya Shahab, said that the indelible impressions of some personalities remain forever and Suraya Shahab is one of those which was inspiring to the society, especially women, including their family women were fond of her voice and style. Her first program regarding the 9th of Muharram is still a sweet memory. Her extraordinary personality did not limit her to public media. Rather, the formation of Pakistan Youth was her life’s dream, which was well received by the journalist community including all of us.
Rubab Tabsum said that women are playing an important role in politics along with other sectors.Head of Devcome Munir Ahmad expressed that People are forgetting important personalities all over the place but Youth League has raised the memory of its founder suraya Shahab was a beautiful personality who paid special attention to the education of her countrymen as well as her daughter.
Country Head CNN Urdu Abid Chaudhry Presented Darood Sharif for the reward of the pioneer and also announced certificates of appreciation from CNN Urdu for the speakers present at the ceremony.
Women and youth activists Sadaf Raza and Amina Sadaf criticized the low involvement of women in decision-making and the lack of good practice for these groups. Better measures will have to be taken for important roles.
Chairman PYL Abid Hussain provided information about Suraya Shahab’s nationwide organization and shed light on the diverse aspects of her personality.
Other speakers included broadcaster and artist Aamir Hashmi, Mian Zahid Sultan, Mateen Sheikh, Mehboob Zafar, Zebi Abid, Fakhra Naveed and Darakhshanda Akram, who praised Suraya Shahab’s talents, especially her pronunciation, linguistic skills and writing style. Refreshed their memories while appreciating her capabilities.
Journalist, columnist & chief organizer of PYL Iffat Rauf conducted the event. Lastly shields and certificates were presented to the guests and participants.
