Experts Warn of a Dangerous Future as Global Warming Rises

web Desk :  Experts have warned that the accelerating pace of global warming is pushing the world toward an extremely dangerous future. According to new reports, if current trends continue, megacities could face flooding from rising seas, mountain glaciers may disappear completely, ice sheets could collapse, and coral reefs could die.

Over the past three decades, global environmental efforts have slowed the rise of pollution, but these measures are insufficient. Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, countries pledged to limit global temperatures to just 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. However, recent reports indicate that government plans to achieve this target are inadequate, and current energy consumption has made this goal “out of reach.”

According to the United Nations’ recent “Emissions Gap” report, even if current pledges are fully implemented, global temperatures could rise by 2.3 to 2.5°C by the end of this century. If efforts fall short, temperatures could reach 2.8°C, with a 20% chance of exceeding 3°C.

So far, the world has already warmed by approximately 1.4°C, resulting in extreme heat waves, floods, and droughts. Experts warn that a 2–3°C rise would be extremely dangerous, causing sea level rise, threatening major cities, melting mountain glaciers, and destabilizing ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica.

Experts stress that developing countries will be most affected by this crisis, as they have the fewest resources to adapt. Current extreme weather and environmental events—including wildfires in the U.S. and Canada, heatwaves in Pakistan, and devastating floods in Vietnam—already demonstrate the severity of the threat.

While some progress has been made, experts say there are no longer any realistic pathways to keep global temperatures at safe levels. Every fraction of a degree increase can have severe impacts, and a 2–3°C rise would pose a globally unsafe and highly dangerous future
