2nd Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nation’s Volleyball League 2024 Kicks Off in Islamabad

The capital city of Islamabad witnessed the commencement of the highly anticipated 2nd Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nation’s Volleyball League 2024 today. The event, set to run until May 17, will showcase the prowess of six formidable teams, including Iran, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and hosts Pakistan, as they compete for top honors in the Central Zone.

 

The inauguration ceremony, slated for 5:30 pm (PST) today, promises an exhilarating display of sportsmanship, with Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, gracing the occasion as the esteemed chief guest.

 

Yesterday, amidst fervent anticipation, team captains from all participating nations, with the exception of Afghanistan, who arrived late on Friday, unveiled the prestigious CAVA Nation’s Volleyball League Trophy in the federal capital Islamabad.

 

In the opening match, Iran will face off against Turkmenistan, while Pakistan will later take on Afghanistan in a thrilling showdown. Additionally, fans can look forward to the clash between Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka, all happening today at the Liaqat Gymnasium in Pakistan Sports Complex.

 

Chairman of Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF), Ch Mohammad Yaqoob, emphasized the significance of this event, bringing together the best teams from the region. He also announced upcoming international tournaments, including Australia’s historic visit to Pakistan and participation in the Challenge Cup in Bahrain.

 

In his call to action, Yaqoob urged fans to witness the live action at the gymnasium, expressing gratitude to the government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for their unwavering support towards this prestigious sporting event.

 

As volleyball enthusiasts gear up for a week-long extravaganza of athleticism and camaraderie, the Liaqat Gymnasium opens its doors, welcoming spectators to witness history in the making, free of charge.
