Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar actively participated in the ongoing Envoys’ Conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from January 4 to January 6, 2024. Notable envoys from key capitals are engaging in discussions on various aspects of Pakistan’s foreign policy during the conference.
Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani welcomed the Prime Minister, outlining the conference’s framework and emphasizing its significance as a platform for diplomatic deliberations on challenges and opportunities facing Pakistan amidst global and regional developments. Jilani stressed the importance of reinforcing the Foreign Office’s central role in formulating and implementing foreign policy.
In his keynote address, Prime Minister Kakar shared his perspective on the essential requirements for steering Pakistan’s foreign policy in line with contemporary imperatives. He highlighted the need for a vision that positions Pakistan as a progressive, economically thriving state prioritizing the socio-economic well-being of its people. Emphasizing a commitment to peace and mutually beneficial global relations, the Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s adherence to international law, the principles of the UN Charter, economic diplomacy, and support for the Palestinian cause. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance on the Jammu and Kashmir issue, calling for its resolution in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of its people.
Prime Minister Kakar deemed the conference timely, considering significant transformations in the region and worldwide. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s diplomacy and diplomats, even in challenging circumstances, and hoped that this year’s deliberations would yield practical suggestions to navigate Pakistan’s foreign policy through contemporary challenges.
The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to the Foreign Office and Pakistani diplomats, urging them to safeguard Pakistan’s interests and enhance its global standing.
