Islamabad, In a significant achievement, the Pakistani passport has entered the list of the Top 100 most powerful passports in the world, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. This progress enables Pakistani citizens to enjoy visa-free access to 32 countries.
Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mr. Mustafa Jamal Qazi, congratulated the nation on this milestone and expressed gratitude to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Interior Secretary for their continued support. He attributed this success to the introduction of enhanced security features, modernization of passport offices, and the rollout of e-passports.
Highlights from the 2025 Annual Performance Report
The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports has released its Annual Performance Report, detailing major improvements over the past year:

The number of passport offices in Pakistan has reached 232, with 93 missions abroad.

Over the past 17 years, a total of 55 million passports have been issued.

In the past 2 years alone, 13 million passports were issued, with an annual average of 6.7 million due to increased demand.

130,318 overseas Pakistanis benefitted from online passport services in the last year.

The department contributed PKR 295.7 billion to the national treasury over 16 years, including PKR 40 billion annually in the last 2 years.

In the past year, the department issued 53 Pakistani citizenship certificates, 4,447 renunciation certificates, and 1 naturalization certificate.

32 new passport counters were established nationwide, including at provincial assemblies and bar councils.

10 modern passport printers and 6 laminators were procured to enhance timely printing.

E-gates are being introduced at all major airports for e-passport holders.

Citizens will soon be able to apply for passports from home via the upgraded Passport Mobile App.

The “Asaan Fee App” now enables instant payment of passport fees.

24/7 passport issuance services have been implemented in major cities across the country.
Service Delivery and Institutional Modernization
DG Mustafa Jamal Qazi emphasized that eliminating the backlog, improving infrastructure, and enhancing customer experience remain top priorities. Passport office buildings across Pakistan have been upgraded to state-of-the-art standards, and over 73,700 complaints were resolved through the Prime Minister’s Performance Delivery Unit (PMDU) during the last year.
“Our mission is to provide every citizen with secure, timely, and tech-enabled travel documentation,” said DG Qazi. “The Directorate is committed to offering simplified and modern services to Pakistanis around the globe in line with global standards.”
